Re: Steve Harris gallop

Two fingers. Harris only ever used two fingers. Using three is easier though. As said above - it just takes practice. Harris isn’t your usual finger technique player though. Light touch, low action, heavy strings and doesn’t pivot his right hand about his thumb I also found out recently he used fla...

We’re back there on June 23rd, supporting The Ascended, from Victoria. Keen to say the least.
What's your band's name Ben? I'll try to catch you soon :)
Thrown to the Wolves.

There's talk of a couple of shows before then, but we're still waiting to confirm or deny.

Re: Show us your gigs.

Yeah was super surprised when I found out. It really didn’t look that many. The bands we played with have a pretty big following here and interstate, and the show was heavily promoted. It was also only $5 entry. Last time I played there the vents were working all along the stage. Last night my basse...

Re: Show us your gigs.

Played a show @ Enigma Bar last night, Support slot for sydney band "Wraith", on the last leg of their national tour. My first show in 18 months or so, was a blast. 150-odd through the doors, plus the other 4 bands and crew etc, was a great night. The a/c overhead vents on my side of the stage weren...

Re: Post your rigs - PART TWO

Rehersal rig on monday night, Both my fender's were @ the tech's being checked over for tomorrow night, so took a precision and one of my jackson's for a spin. As easy as it it to take my combo amp, it just doesn't sound anywhere near as good. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk211/rotorheadrx7/IM...

Re: changing preamp?

It really depends on what you're actually trying to achieve, or moreso what you dislike about the current setup. I think you'll get more improvement from changing the pickups, before the preamp. Something like an EMG HZ which is a passive soapbar PU in 4,5 and 6 string widths, and possibly EMG's pre...

Re: How common is BEAD?

all my basses are drop B (B/F#/B/E) or lower. (4 strings i mean) i now 3-4 5 strings as well, and all my basses use exactly the same string sets, I just discard the G string on the 4 strings. Ive done BEAD, Drop A, F# standard (On a 35" scale), and now they're either in Drop B or A# standard. I pers...

Re: NBD. Ibanez fanned fret

I have one as well. I use that and a SR655, and I really dig them. I prefer the nordy's on the SR655, but i prefer playing the SRFF850. Even though the body and neck are identical (bar the frets) Takes a bit more work getting the tone i like from the barts, but overall they're a great bass for the m...

Re: So i took out the big rig last night....

If space permits, i'll always take my classic head and 8x10 despite the weight to a gig. It looks so cool and sounds so awesome. And there's always lots of volume on tap. That, and the drunks get a kick out of watching me (in disbelief) unload and load it into my ford focus :) This too. Ive never p...

Re: Mid-price 5 string P/PJ options

@Ben B - I'm sure it was purely coincidental posting that directly after Michael, but did you notice the orientation of your P pickup in that pic? No, was a coincidence, didnt actually see his post until after id posted mine. Its also another good feature if the SR655. Theres a model above it...

Re: Mid-price 5 string P/PJ options

I just bought an Ibanez SR655. I Only bought it as a Backup to my SRFF805. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0254/4071/products/2E1A05348686_1024x1024.jpg?v=1486470350 I **** LOVE it. Light, thin, ultra fast neck, warmth, punch, massive tonal ability. The EQ is great (active and passive), and I pick...
