Re: NBD. Ibanez fanned fret

I have one as well. I use that and a SR655, and I really dig them. I prefer the nordy's on the SR655, but i prefer playing the SRFF850. Even though the body and neck are identical (bar the frets) Takes a bit more work getting the tone i like from the barts, but overall they're a great bass for the m...

Re: So i took out the big rig last night....

If space permits, i'll always take my classic head and 8x10 despite the weight to a gig. It looks so cool and sounds so awesome. And there's always lots of volume on tap. That, and the drunks get a kick out of watching me (in disbelief) unload and load it into my ford focus :) This too. Ive never p...

Re: Mid-price 5 string P/PJ options

@Ben B - I'm sure it was purely coincidental posting that directly after Michael, but did you notice the orientation of your P pickup in that pic? No, was a coincidence, didnt actually see his post until after id posted mine. Its also another good feature if the SR655. Theres a model above it...

Re: Mid-price 5 string P/PJ options

I just bought an Ibanez SR655. I Only bought it as a Backup to my SRFF805. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0254/4071/products/2E1A05348686_1024x1024.jpg?v=1486470350 I **** LOVE it. Light, thin, ultra fast neck, warmth, punch, massive tonal ability. The EQ is great (active and passive), and I pick...

Re: Having the strap nut on the back of the bass?

I did it with one of the neck bolts on my Jackson kellybird (thunderbird shape) by machining down one of the screw heads slightly so it would fit into my strap-lock reciever, and then a little epoxy glue in the hole. i didnt really want to drill anything into the body itself, and figured if it didn'...

Re: Seriously - how many drive and distortion pedals does the world need.

42. the answer to everything. Ive been sansamp BDDI v1 and v2 since the beginning, but, im starting to branch out over the last couple of years, different situations require different things. I only need one. At least, as soon as I find the right one, I'll only need one. +100000 I dont like "fuzz" p...

Re: What to do when the supplied backline is a bit... meh...

I plug a sansamp (or other preamp) into the effects return of the amp if possible. This! Seconded. My Sansamp is the core of my tone anyway, i do use a tube head and 810, but on supplied backline, i still get pretty close with the pedal. Ive also just taken my pedal board on shows we've flown to, a...

Re: Who uses a sealed 410?

i used 2 x 410 hartke hydrive cabs with a LH1000 head for a while, and now im using a Peavey 810 with my Peavey VB3 300w tube head, which is effectively 4 sealed 2x10's. Punch, clarity, tone in spades, but the low end is simply vicious. I love mine to bits. Its unstoppable with a precision bass. Ive...

I've never heard anything but a MusicMan sound and feel like a MusicMan not even modded basses. Ain't saying that they can't. .. just that I ain't seen or felt it Sterling R34/ray35. I own/have owned both sterling and ernie ball. Ive owned a 1994 EBMM us. stingray 4 for many years, and the ray34's ...

Re: Teensy Practice Combos - What's Good / What's Bad?

I recently purchased an ampeg BA-110 1x10" combo amp for mucking around at home, Although I mainly use amp sim's in my studio. i also tried a marshall MB30 1x10 amp, both were very nice, and not back breaking nor wallet busting. Lots of cool features in both. Ampeg won out for a couple of reasons ov...

NBD - Fender Special Edition Precision Bass 'Noir'

My God. I want one. Not everyone's cup of tea, but its precisely mine. Thoughts? Would be based off a MIM fender yes? https://www.basscentre.com.au/collections/4-string-basses/products/fender-special-edition-precision-bass-noir https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0254/4071/products/0140175506.jpg?v=14...
