Re: My Current Gibson Basses

Really regretting not picking up that $200 Steinie XT2 in the Allan's sale. I take my bass in its case + pedal board to practice. Walk to station, change at Central, down/up 4 flights of stairs, crammed on the light rail with everyone going to piss their money away at the casino, down more stairs. S...

Re: My Current Gibson Basses

Makes my stated goal of three Thunderbirds seem positively modest. Well ... three Thunderbirds, a cheap Steinie rehearsal bass and a franken P.

Five ... no more than five.

Really? I was sure it was black. My bad. At least you don't have to worry about Kat burglars...

Re: WTB *Gibson* Thunderbird Black (just not quite yet)

I'd feel less guilty about 'butchering' a Gibson to be sure and a vehicle is required for the 63N...

I've gone off Epis since I first picked up the Orville. Night and day difference.

Re: WTB *Gibson* Thunderbird Black (just not quite yet)

Well whatever I get will end up with a single Thunderbucker 63N. The other two have the Thunderbucker 66S.

Re: WTB *Gibson* Thunderbird Black (just not quite yet)

I hear you Mark -- I have had my eye on that Greco for a while -- and I'd also happily have an Orville blackbird. I suppose I feel that I need to have a 'proper' one, neck through, all the trimmings...

Re: WTB *Gibson* Thunderbird Black (just not quite yet)

I presume we are talking a "modern" TBird, not a vintage one? Absolutely. I can't afford a vintage Bird, worst luck. I'm not expecting pristine condition. As long as the neck is good, I'm not bothered by a few dings in the finish and what have you. Geoff's Bird would be ideal, but he might notice i...

WTB *Gibson* Thunderbird Black (just not quite yet)

Does anyone have a black Gibson Thunderbird they are looking to move on sometime this year?

I'm not ready to buy yet but as these are relatively rare, thought I'd put out the feelers good and early. Need more spondoolicks in the bass fund before anything actually happens.

Russell, don't use the 'S' word -- it's offensive. The sort of word Lord Snooty sneers at you when he's striking you across the face with his horsewhip.

Re: Political Coverage By the Media in Our Country - PART TWO

Peer through the lens of neoliberalism and you see more clearly how the political thinkers most admired by Thatcher and Reagan helped shape the ideal of society as a kind of universal market (and not, for example, a polis, a civil sphere or a kind of family) and of human beings as profit-and-loss c...

Mitch Fifield is a member of the IPA ... privatising the ABC and SBS are numbers 50 and 51 on their shopping list. Another example of how well and efficiently the neoliberal model works: just like thousand of other football fans, we signed up to pay for the Optus 'product', ie streaming service, so ...

Why isn't Darkglass on your list?
Ive tried it and listened to a lot of demos etc and to my ears it sounds very mid scooped. The mid scoop works with a lot of styles but I really hate it for my style he he
The DGVU isn't scooped -- that's why it's good.

Re: Is there a bass overdrive that can go...

Dunno about not colouring your tone tone ... but the Darkglass Vintage Ultra certainly has a lot of options -- 4 band freq selectable eq, saturation controls and blend.

Cheers all. That squid looks like it might do the job. The strap is Planet Waves also as it happens.
