Re: WTB: Bergantino 112 or 210 Cab

Great cabs the HD210s as are the HD112s and the HD210/112 combination works nicely for a medium-sized rig with a Class D on top. Good luck with the search. They do pop up from time to time but tend to disappear as quickly.

I think that probably qualifies as a medium rig :) I'm going to try out the TH350 in a couple of weeks, hope it fits what I'm after.

If you are after an old school tone in a small box they are great.

How great is it that we're well past the 1980s, when a small rig was an EV-TL 15" and a Peavey MkIV. Neither of them lightweights.
I can still remember hauling my Peavey TNT130 around (all 40+ kilos of it).

Re: Small Rig

While we’re at i some Genzler love from me. Magellan 800 and 2 BA12-3 is easily the best rig I’ve ever heard. Full bottom end and a supersmooth top end, plus the most amazing lateral dispersion - grat sound anywhere on stage, and the DI has had nothing but positive comments. Tried this set up at BG...

Re: Small Rig

The Berg cabs are easily the best sounding cabs I have played through. They give such depth and presence to the tone. My experience too. What I really like about the bergs are how loud they can get and how easily they handle the low B. I've tried similar lightweight cabs such as Aguilar and GK and ...

Re: Small Rig

Nice rig. It is kinda close to my lightweight rig. Darkglass MT900 Bergantino CN212 Keeley Bassist, Darkglass B3K, Darkglass B7K Ultra The Berg cabs are easily the best sounding cabs I have played through. They give such depth and presence to the tone. Yes, only got into them last year and now have...

The Bergs or some similar quality speaker (or better) are crucial to a small kit IMO.
I agree and for mine ceramics just have a bit more depth to them particularly when pushed.

Small Rig

Tried a new set up at rehearsal last night which sounded pretty sweet.

Stingray Classic
Aguilar TH500
Bergantino HD112(2)
MXR Compressor, Darkglass B3K, Tech 21 VT Bass.

A sound that depth, clarity, dirt and volume at the same time.

Re: Post your rigs - PART TWO

How does the NV412 stand up against the tone from a CN212 (if you have tried one that is)? I tried out some HDNs (similar to the CNs) when trying out the HDs and my read is that at lower volumes they are pretty similar but when you start pushing them the HDs (similar to the NVs with a tweeter) main...

Re: What to do when the supplied backline is a bit... meh...

For mine a good pre-amp can boost tone/volume/depth in these circumstances. I go for a Tech 21 VT Bass, Aguilar Tonehammer or Darkglass B3K depending on the gig.

Re: Aguilar DB751 vs TH500

Does it really have a 10kg case?
I weighed this morning and the case/cover come in at around 7Kg, so if you add the 19Kg for the head you are looking at 26Kg in total. By comparison an Ampeg SVT is around 10Kg heavier and that's without a flight case.

Re: Aguilar DB751 vs TH500

I have owned both for around 12 months now and when time allows would always go with the DB751, even for rehearsals. Its not so much a tone thing as a power/depth thing. That said, the TH500 is a bloody good little amp with a lot more warmth than a lot of Class D amps, it just has its power limits. ...
