Re: NBD: Yamaha PB400RA - 1985 P-Bass Copy.

How's that painted neck feel? I had to move on a BB with painted neck which otherwise sounded fantastic. I thought about sandpaper for a minute before accepting I'd probably just ruin a very nice instrument. So far I haven't had an issue with the neck, feels like a clear finished gloss neck. I may ...

That looks the business - thanks for the review, hadn't heard anything about them
Me neither, from what I gather in the same years they also made PB400 basses which were exact same specs without the painted neck. These models seem more common.

NBD: Yamaha PB400RA - 1985 P-Bass Copy.

My Christmas bass arrived - a Yamaha PB400RA. There doesn't seem to be much info on these online but basically this is a 1985 Japanese Yamaha P-bass copy. It has a Sen-Ash body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard and Yamaha electronics. For a twist the neck is also painted. I bought this online for a ...

Cheap deal on a Ray 35 in Brisbane. I would check it out if I didn't just buy a bass.

Re: Pitch shifters... Recommendations???

It doesn't do all 12 chromatic tones. It misses the minor 3rd, flat 5th, minor 6 and major 7 but each pitch it can do above and below the root.

Re: Pitch shifters... Recommendations???

I quite like the EHX pitchfork for a small pedal with great tracking plus heaps of different intervals.

Re: Small Rig

I tried a Fender Rumble 500 into the Rumble 115 cab yesterday, I thought it sounded fantastic especially for the price. I liked the cab much more than either of the Markbass cabs I tried.

Re: WTB: Tym Pedals

Tym has just started making semi-mass produced pedals at reduced prices. Probably best to try his store direct. Unfortunately the Big Bottom is not one of the new pedals.

Re: Live music and music shops in Hobart?

I just bought a bass from Top Shelf Instruments. They are online second hand dealers (mainly Japanese basses) but you can contact them to go around as try instruments.

Re: Who is obsessive about their coffee??

Inspired by this thread I bought myself a second hand sunbeam conical burr grinder and some single wall filter baskets for my machine. Just made the best espresso shot ever from my machine.

Damn, bad start to the year for you Pete. Definitely think some kind of remote monitoring may be required.

Does your Genie kick in automatically if it senses a loss of mains power?

Re: Who got a Christmas bass?

I bought myself a late Christmas bass from reverb today, will have to wait to the weekend to pick it up from my parents house (assuming it arrives this week). Pretty excited even though its a 'affordable' bass.
