Re: NBD 89' Warwick Thumb 6 string neck thru

Looks great, Pete. The nut is the same on mine, interesting concept that wouldn’t be hard to replicate. Pickup position of the bridge pu is pretty extreme but probably contributes to the sound character. 6.2 kgs? Well, no thanks ... . And I really don’t know how Warwick are getting away with the pre...

I must say I’m very excited by this. See you all soon, Polaris fans!
No pressure, then, Tim ;) .

I'll contact you Friday regarding arrival time etc, depends a little on a couple of other things that might happen.

Michael

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

I'm not seeing the wood you're planning to use for the spalted maple four-pickup jobbie ;D B> That'll be a surprise, Bruce, a secret I'll keep right to the last moment (which might mean forever ;) ). Speaking of spalted maple - somewhat nicer pics of the finished Special Q: https://www.flickr.com/p...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Good to know, Blaine (and do you ever know someone?). "Nice bit of booty" - I'll take that as a compliment ;) . Sorting out a few future tops with generous body outlines for the next 4 Kermit builds - all going to be neck-through (despite the recent setback with "banana maple" I reckon it's the way ...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Went to shop today too but left early. There was too much noise from certain individuals ;) Don’t you hate it when wood does what it wants? I really hope it wasn't because of the noise (but would totally understand). And well, yes, that's kind of the beauty of working with timber. Have been pretty ...

Re: Blue Bass Owners Show Your Bass(es)!

My daughter’s blue Mikro and the fretless MIJ Jazz that I picked up in the classifieds here. https://imgur.com/gallery/bPr2f6e I keep chasing after a blue custom Dingwalls and keep ending up with orange and natural ones. B> Just saw this today - so you DON’T mind a blue bass every now and then, Bru...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Bit of a crappy day at the workshop today. Bought 3 m of maple to get the building blocks organised for the 4 neck-through necks. Looked great but once sawed I ended up with Cavendish instead of Ladyfinger: 80 cm just about OK, then bend, bend, bend so instead of having everything to start gluing up...

Re: NBD - Kermit Sauron (a.k.a. Reject)

Finally had a chance to play Sauron in a band context (rehearsal of the original band) through the small (just one cab) Genzler rig. Bit like Aldi: Good. Different. Physically it plays real nice, not too heavy, sits nice and balanced, slim-ish neck profile with a comfortable width, easy access to al...

How long can strings be stored unused for, does age effect them ?
I'd say minimal, if any effect. Most certainly will last longer than having them on the bass and playing them ;) .

If you're totally paranoid you can always vacuum-seal them to avoid any chance of oxidation.

Re: Bass Strings Online closing down

Sucks.

Very happy with Jason's service, range and price of strings. Single source for everything, now it'll be different suppliers and higher prices.

Will try to get as many DR PureBlues (.040 - .120) sets as possible!!!

Re: The "Not a Slappa" build

....tick tock and the latest update. Sean's no longer building. Taken awhile but I've finally got the wood including rosewood fretboard plus truss and carbon fibre rods delivered from him. All sourced from Stewmac apparently. That was earlier this year and I've since picked up these Hipshot tuners ...

Re: WTB: Genzler 350 combo cover /case

Totally seconding TLC. Great quality, fast response, good price - my two BA12-3 cabs still look like new, the TLC covers haven’t missed a beat.
