Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Looks so good Michael. What's the thickness of the top wood on this one? Just curious for future potential purchases. Thank you, Ivan, As I said the light was dreadful, couldn't even get close to a proper white balance and colour reproduction in post-processing. It looks much (a lot) better in real...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Some progress. Neck fitted and final width for the Special Q, and I started carving as well (can't see it in the pic). Colour is way off - sorry, looks much nicer in real life. https://www.flickr.com/photos/94660385@N02/41327931465/in/dateposted-public/ For the neck-through Kermit the board's on and...

Re: NBD: Ibanez BTB1606

Congrats - I am always amazed how Ibanez can offer something like this for the price they do. Great timbers, great craftsmanship, good hardware and electronics.

Enjoy!

Michael

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Had a little bit of time today. Routed the battery compartment for the Special Q" - no pic, sorry. Catch-up from the other day: the "top sandwich" for the neck-through Kermit being glued up: https://www.flickr.com/photos/94660385@N02/41264007955/in/dateposted-public/ Glued up real nice with the West...

Re: Sneaky's random builds log

Hi Pete, You’re not getting away that easily. First of all sorry to hear that things got worse rather than improve. But that’s not enough reason to throw out the baby with the bath water. Rest up, get the surgery done, and then see where you’re at. The lutherie forum definitely needs you - the more ...

Re: Custom Neck

A lot to be said for giving a “from scratch” approach under MSGM guidance a serious go. Same ball park in terms of cost (ball park!), you end up with something you know will work and you get an understanding how it all works. Two left hands? Rubbish, even I can do it, and if you should run into trou...

All rounds for me but I have to admit that I’ve mellowed from stainless to nickels.

Can't think of too many other things representing so much money in such small packages - printer ink, maybe? But (at least in my opinion) worth every cent: Delano pickups.

Anyone interested in a "Timber Addict Anonymous" group in Melbourne? ;)
I feel like it would be more enabling that restraint, take MSGM for example.
Nothing wrong with that, Nick :D ;) .

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Bad, Michael, bad. Browsing my favourite supplier's web site and just couldn't help myself. Let's start off a little restrained. Afrormosia (never heard of it but looks nice): https://www.flickr.com/photos/94660385@N02/41353006124/in/dateposted-public/ Couple of beautiful maple burls with plenty of ...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Some updates on the 2 current builds. The Spalted Maple Q fretboard glued up beautifully, and the neck is now ready for carving. No pics, totally boring stuff. The NT Kermit has made some progress. Sawed off the cutaways of the walnut body wings, took down the part of the neck where the wings attach...

Re: Photobucket Alternatives

Flickr which was just "acquired" by Smugmug. Regards, Michael Is that good or bad? I'm getting frustrated with imgur and the free limits. Works for me so far, Nick, but I'm not sure the takeover has taken place already. Promise was that there won't be a difference. I also just copy and paste the UR...

Re: WTB: phil Jones BigHead

I missed out on the previous group buy from Thoman and am interested in buying one of these. Is there anyone in Ozbass land thinking of selling theirs? Good luck, Ivan, Tough proposition. I'm not even remotely close to contemplating to maybe think about the possibility of perhaps moving mine on - i...
