Re: Political Coverage By the Media in Our Country - PART TWO

I don't know if coverage of overseas political events counts, but there was probably no cover here(?) for maybe 20k people who marched on Whitehall on June 10 demanding release of an activist who was instrumental in calling out the UK justice system turning a blind eye to what equates to sex-slavery...

Re: New studio build

they build up inside I'm only at research stage on that one. I have thought of: extra vertical studs on inside walls, say 70mm deep, rockwool in between to make a floor to ceiling insulation panel; than cover lower third or half with a board - maybe structafloor as it can get bashed about by gear; ...

I've imported at least one (secondhand) bass from Japan, since Jan 2017, with rosewood board.

Re: New studio build

I've successfully sound isolated my office from noisy trains across the road. Before: couldn't talk on phone as a train went past; now: just a faint rumble. 1. Roof cavity - do have one - R6+ rockwool mineral fibre on top of ceiling - fibre blanket under the (presumably) colourbond roof. Seal all ro...

Re: Political Coverage By the Media in Our Country - PART TWO

A good article from Laura Tingle. Yep, we are ruled by the machinations of self-serving politickers. I suppose the same since before Federation. But there is a notable difference now - as I've alluded to once before, I always liked to think cricket was a mark of the civilising influence on (ex-)Bri...

Re: Mastering the fretboard - not!

I'm Mr Pattern - four-finger major-scale position play - takes me a few moments to work out a note if asked, but I can tell you its relative just like that. In fact, I transcribe my song-sheets in numbers, not chords - that way I can transpose just by shifting my position.

Re: Ozbass for electronic music/midi

I'm looking for a few ideas brands/models to look at, to start getting into live sequencing. With midi programmable drums, and pads. Can't be a laptop - it must be reasonably solid. Idea being to program up your songs - load them in, then just select them when performing. So it must have a clear scr...

Re: What bass guitar sounds DON'T you like?

Ooh, I love my neck pups solo'ed and finger-played on the bottom of the fingerboard - including ones right on the neck heel. But then I dont play all that loud live. I've just realised I never play the bridge pup by itself - usually too strident for quiet stuff.

Re: Dead notes and the Truss Rod

Yes - some pics are added of some of the things I've tried. I'm going to try a few others. I've presently got an o-ring and 2mm long sleeve of pvc tube under the trussrod nut of my Fender TNL - it turned it from unplayable to playable, excepting for a dead 2F#. I plan to try a couple of other non-in...

Re: Bass Canon For Pub Gig

Others with more experience would know more, but this is essentially an unfolded "folded horn" but without the tapered bore. In short, its resonant frequency would drown out all the other bass frequencies - ie the ones you need to play bass with. I'd say this is a great foghorn :) Folded horn exampl...
