Re: Warwick Corvette 5 string (German) info...

The Vette's are definitely a niche Instrument; unique feel & a very distinctive mid-focused tone. Players that they appeal to will absolutely love them; however they're not everyones cup of tea, & just don't sit with a lot of players (the Vette's are by far the most common Warwick I see come up for ...

Re: Blue Bass Owners Show Your Bass(es)!

Apart from a DeArmond Ashbory (which I haven't laid eyes on for years), this Italia Maranello is my sole Blue Bass. This is the only snap I have of it; although it looks almost as black as the others in this pic, it's actually a gaudy blue sparkle! :p <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.fl...

Re: 1980 IBANEZ ROADSTER...amazing bass !!!!!!

This particular model of Roadster are real sleepers; great Basses with an amazing 'old Fender' like growl to them.

I have a maple board Fretless in the same model (active), & as long as my bum still points towards the ground it's not going anywhere!!

Re: Acoustic amp choice... ?

Haven't had a lot of experience with having to amplify Acoustic Bass, but I guess Upright is in a similar ballpark. As far as a rig dedicated to Upright goes, I really like the Euphonic Audio gear. They do make a iAmp 350 Combo with a 10" speaker, although admittedly I've never tried one; I usually ...

Re: FS: 1990 Warwick Thumb NT 4 String

Nice Bass! And it does absolutely nothing. Baseball bat neck, 4 strings only, heavy, despite 34" scale quite hard to play in the money region. It's funny; I've gone the other way. :hmm I've got a Corvette $$ Fretless here that I really wasn't 100% sure about when I first got it (for very s...

For rounds, it's usually either D'Addario EXL's or DR Lo Riders.
Others are Chromes & GHS Pressurewounds.

WTB: Bits & Pieces Wanted

I have a few weeks with a bit of time to myself coming up, so I'm going to attempt to knock over a few of the "Bitsa Projects" I've had lying around for many weeks/months/years (and in at least one case, decades!... :red face ). Chasing any of the following items: 1. 5 knob Preamp to suit active pic...

Re: FS One Control Hookers Green Bassmachine Bass OD

Is it anything like the blueberry? Very much like the Blueberry; I've had both of them side by side on a board & you could set them up to sound identical. If anything, the HG has a wider gain range; it'll still do the transparent 'barely on' OD same as the BB, but it has a bit more gain on tap at t...

Re: Amp for Country?

Before you shell out for a new Amp, maybe invest in a service for the Traynor. The OP valves could be a bit tired, or it could just need a good overall service; especially if it's one of the first gen 200's, as the auto bias in them was a bit prone to issues. I've played a lot of Country (both trad ...

Re: Short scale bass ideas?

Another vote for the Mustang; good way to get into Short scales while still having a reasonably familiar tone & feel. Personally I love hollowbody Shorts with flatwounds (Jerry Jones, Hofner, Dano, ect), but if you've mainly been playing conventional solid Basses it'll be a fair departure from what ...
