Electric Upright String Options

My Ergo 5 String EUB is up for restringing; I’m trying to gather as much info about String options as possible before lashing out on a new set (not a cheap exercise!). I’m not sure what the current strings on it are (purple wrap with black ball ends if anyone knows?), but I actually wouldn’t mind so...

Re: Who's got my bass?

I'm glad it's not just me!!

I lent a Rickenbacker to someone in Nth Queensland about 30+ years ago, & promptly forgot about it! By the time I remembered where it was, I couldn't remember who I lent it to!!

Re: Cali-76 - TX vs Compact Bass?

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. Haven't had a chance to get back here to reply for a while, so here goes: I'm now the proud new owner of a 76-G (Gemanium); it literally just arrived today, so I haven't even had a chance to fire it up yet. It came up on a Facebook Classifieds site for a reasona...

Re: Cali-76 - TX vs Compact Bass?

Just a quick update, now that I’ve managed to spend some time with a Compact through my rig. Nice; very nice in fact. However that intangible fatness & sense of being “warm without actually being warmed up” that most 1176 owners come to love is sadly missing; it was there to certain degree with the ...

Re: R.I.P Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens

This one knocked me for a sixer; I used to love the Smithereens. Sixty two is way too young! :cry Going to have to crank "Blow Up" in the Car this weekend. https://www.google.com.au/search?client=firefox-b&dcr=0&ei=uPcyWof7Fsm30ASh_qKQAQ&q=Anywhere+You+Are+smithereens&oq=Anywhere+You+Are+smithereens...

I can go fishing for my set of EMGs if I still have them and you're interested.
Hey mate, sent you a PM. What type of EMG's are they?

WTB: Epifani UL Cab (Melbourne)

In accordance with the everchanging configuration of my rig, I'm chasing one of the following Epifani Cabs: UL-1 410 UL-1 210 UL-2 210 Prefer 4 ohm Basically I already have a UL-410 & a UL-310. There's odd occasions where I want to use two Cabs; however because of the differing dimensions I can't ge...

Re: Cali-76 - TX vs Compact Bass?

I can state that I have no intention of buying another compressor - super impressed with the CB. Cheers for that mate. Yeah the Compact is a tidy looking package alright; I actually really like the idea of how the HPF works in the side chain (a feature which I don't think the TX has). Like I said t...

Cali-76 - TX vs Compact Bass?

I was never really in the financial position to splash out on a luxury like a Cali-76 TX when they were available; and of course now that they're a discontinued item, the ebay profiteerers are trying to jack their prices up to pre-2008 madness! :rollno: I always had it in my mind that I'd go the ext...

That would go killer with my Ampeg Diamond Blue B-100R - except there's no extension speaker capabilities on it!

Re: WTB: Humbucker sized Bass Pickups

How about the Hong Kong buckers that Veebass installed in his Thunderbird? I think they cost less than $100 a pair and Russ says they are better than the stock Gibson pickups. My Fenderbird has Thunderbucker Ranch '66 Thunderbuckers which are great but they are closer to $400 a pair shipped. Hey Ma...

WTB: Humbucker sized Bass Pickups

I'm chasing a set of Humbucker sized Pickups to go in a Bass. The way I see it, I've got three options; I've listed them in order of preference; 1. Passive HB Bass Pickups (Gibson TB Plus, Rio Grande Pitbulls, ect) 2. Active HB Bass Pickups (EMG-HB, Bartolini 1-CB, ect) 3. Blade type Guitar pickups ...

Re: FS: 1970's Acoustic 140 solid state amp

Haha 125W is an absolute MONSTER in comparison ;) LOL; they're Acoustic watts, so the difference would have been almost catastrophic!! 8/  At 4 ohms my old Acoustic 320 was supposed to be delivering something minuscule like 225 watts. I've done open air gigs where I had the volume at around 9 ...
