Re: I desperately need help with technique and don't know where to begin

I need practical exercises that I can do to help improve my technique. I have limited time available to me, amongst band commitments, family commitments, and work commitments, so I can't just sit down and practice for 4 hours a day or anything. Therefore, I want to focus on improving my technique f...

Re: Salary Sacrifice- Advice Please

I might be off the mark, but if this person is living in the house and is in a relationship with the owner, whilst paying half the mortgage, then if they have been doing this for 12 months or more, they may be considered de-facto and this person would have a claim on the property.

Re: A piece broke off

Well I've never dropped a bass in 20+ years and this is the most I've ever spent on straplocks:- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/291457067536?chn=ps&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F705-139619-5960-0%252F2%253Fmpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com.au%25252Fitm%2...

Ive got a blank sitting there for my upcoming build that Ill get to in the next decade or so :P

I also am keen to understand why you'd never work with it again? Too hard/stiff and therefore tricky to work with?

Re: When was the last time you sold/bought a bass

Haven't sold a bass for a few years, nor have I bought one.

Amps on the other hand got a shake up about 12 months ago.

Re: Getting after market parts in Australia?

Theres not a big enough market in Australia to justify a middleman local distributor for parts - so theres not a lot of variety in the stores that do stock parts. Some Aussie stockists include: http://luthierssupplies.com.au/index.php?cPath=117_168 https://www.guitaraust.com.au/ http://www.realparts...

Do you want genuine Schecter parts, or are you looking to replace them with alternative hardware/electronics?

Re: RE: Re: How Much Shielding Is Really Required

I have had issues with Precision pickups being noisy and needing extra shielding. They shouldn't be noisy, they're humbuckers. They don't look like it, but the two coils are reverse polarity, as are the magnets in the two coils. I guess it's possible that some after markets might not be that way. O...

Re: "Modern Bass Sound"... Huh?

I've always attributed modern to newer technology in terms of tone. Where classic is a P or Jazz bass with flats through an ampeg, modern is active pickups through a class d hi-fi sounding rig.

I'd put the overdriven tones of guys like nolly in a completely seperate category.

Re: How Much Shielding Is Really Required

The humbuckers point is key - never had a problem with a P-bass or humbucker pickup - but introduce a jazz single coil or a tele pickup on its own (not in a matched pair) and noise rears its ugly head. I agree about using a star washer single grounding point. Never had any problems with ground loops...
