Re: Big Stingray changes by Ernie Ball

I cant see any downside to these changes. People complaining over on TB that the bridge doesn't look as solid as the old one clearly haven't done many four hour shows. If I had to pick, my 2011 HH SR5 would be my favourite all round bass but I see myself trading up to the new version when it comes ...

Small aside, just wondering how much of a difference people feel string through mounting makes to your tone? In my experience the difference appears to be negligible if any...
zero in my opinion. Plus I think it is a pain to be honest. I prefer quick top loading bridges.

Re: Wirelessly powered magnetic pedalboard !

Looks like you could do the same thing by using: - daisy chain to each pedal - 9v battery adapter - 9v lithium battery ?? - depends how much power all the pedals use in an evening If a standard 9v battery is not enough, then maybe rig up two in parallel? If still not enough, then would have to make...

Re: Big Stingray changes by Ernie Ball

Here's the SR5 - the weight alone has got me interested... but I'm not sure I like the subtle changes to the lower bout. :hmm

Sorry, how exactly does it power the pedals?
It looks like the current is running the magnetised rails... the 'gravity boots' have a connector at the bottom for your lead to the pedals. Looks like the magnetised rail doubles as a power supply and means of securing the pedals.

Re: P bass cab/amp setup

The thing is, George, he only gets "that tone" and the dynamics because of his bass face and of course the hat ... ;) . Regards, Michael Haha his grooves are pretty stellar though, he gives me bass face just watching his licks. Check this one out - killer groove and ... bass face! https://youtu.be/...

Could you tell me your B3 settings for this please?
I'm playing around with the SVT patch. Cab sim at 50, Cab type is ORGN (which selects 810E cabinet), Ultra Both('Emphasizes high and low frequencies'), eq set flat.

Re: P bass cab/amp setup

Thanks for all the input folks. I think my p bass problem is solved. I'm enjoying the p bass tone out of my cabs now... some cab sim and valve sims out of my B3 is just nice enough... but it does make me miss that traynor I sold to an ozbasser here Anyhoo I have been also watching scott devine and h...

Is it really that much better than the Fodera that you sold? Or is it about the fact that it is different, unique etc.?

Re: P bass cab/amp setup

I added some cab sim to the ampeg patch in the zoom b3... smoothed out the tone nicely. Will play around with it a bit more.

Re: P bass cab/amp setup

^exactly what I was thinking... I had an ibanez p bass through a traynor head into the bergs before and it sounded amazing... so its the head or a patch on my zoom B3 I guess

P bass cab/amp setup

I have the amphones headphones and my p bass sounds phenomenal through them. But not so much so through my LWA1000 amp/ CN112 berg cabs. My amp/cab setup seems to have been made with the stingray in mind, but that is the tone I keep coming back to. But I do have a p bass and was wondering how to get...

Amber was always good with shure stuff and the works. Didn’t realise they were doing instruments too. Is dominant still in business? Looks like they have an online presence with some clearance items. LWA1000 down to $699 from $1599  https://musicclearance.com.au/collections/types?q=Bass%20Amp...

James Tyler :yep
Is this a famous luthier? I have never heard of it, but it looks really sweet... and curiously just the day before I noticed a guy on youtube playing a guitar by this maker, I went back and checked as I noticed the logo and sure enough it was a Tyler guitar.
