Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

I've been curious about that thread. I reckon my stingray SR5 can do both those tones... I hear parallel setting on the first and series on the second...

ps. I have a ceramic SR5 too, the alnico is very different too....

Thanks mate. It has served me well.
Best of luck with the sale, you're a brave man.

I've only found selling stingrays to lead to regret :peep:

the grain is so pretty on that bass, like my '96. I often just rest on my lap and stare at it in good light...

Hi Michael

4.4 kegs on the bathroom scales mate.
That's a good weight... it's a beauty. These mid 90s-early 2000s are killer. Great price.

Re: Maton JB4 Lives Again! (The Proof Is Here)

When I owned one, long ago, it sang. It "just worked". Playing it felt like coming home. ... Funny, that's exactly how I described the feeling the first time I played one. In the shop. Then bought it even though it didn't meet any of the criteria I thought I was looking for 😶 It must be a magic ton...

Re: Maton JB4 Lives Again! (The Proof Is Here)

There must be something special about these basses that I'm not aware of, but the aesthetics don't appeal to me

CN112 has a horn - and it can get super bright as well.
Yes indeed :yep

I'm currently still going with fiddling around with the B3 settings rather than buying a new preamp.

Re: SINGLE STRING SLAP PERMUTATIONS??

Hi Aaron, welcome to OBF. We like stingrays and bacon, so you should fit in well around here. :) A couple things stand out to me (as a teacher and a player)... 1. A proper DI feed from the bass into the camera/computer will make the bass sound a lot clearer. 2. Slow down each exercise to a step by ...

Re: Small Rig

The Berg cabs are easily the best sounding cabs I have played through. They give such depth and presence to the tone. My experience too. What I really like about the bergs are how loud they can get and how easily they handle the low B. I've tried similar lightweight cabs such as Aguilar and GK and ...

The Bergs or some similar quality speaker (or better) are crucial to a small kit IMO.
