Re: Sneaky's random builds log

Stunning Pete. I'd love to see it in the flesh too so yes please bring it with you next time you're down. the fretless ventured to Church again on Sunday. Sounded great but I really can't get my head around the high C. Played a lot of bum notes which got the drummer giving me a funny look. Cut the ...

Re: Sneaky's random builds log

I'd love to hear this guitar one day Pete. How does it sound compared to your Larrivee? I may have to get some advice from you to help me set up my Cole Clark one day. Cheers. Sounds a lot bigger and considerably more bottom end response than the larivee. as sensitive as it is I’m surprised it does...

Re: Sneaky's random builds log

Needs a few things tweaked and I don’t like the string spacing at the nut so I’m going to re-cut it but it’s basically done I am buying parts for two bass builds so I will get back on track with stuff people might actually be interested in following http://u.cubeupload.com/Sneakyjak/2BA4233B5C7F4E16...

Re: Having the strap nut on the back of the bass?

My Stambaugh fretless has it and I’ve done it on two builds . If it makes it more playable for you don’t see how it could be seen as the wrong way to go

looking good!

Really like that the luthier discussions have got some life. love seeing the variations which I think speak volumes about the builders personality.

Re: Classic Build #1 The whole bass and nothing but.....

Can’t wait for a demo video I'll do my best Pete.......but lately I've been spending more time building than playing, so it will be interesting. As we all know bass is a very unforgiving instrument :eyebrow: I'll definitely have demo with something nice and simple :yep I’m actually not playing at t...

Re: Build #12 - 6 string fretless (warning; crazy content)

Out of interest and I don’t know why Jens the luthier I’ve been building my acoustic in his workshop only uses epoxy for glueing fretboards.

I’ll ask and find out why he prefers that over yellow glue if you’re interested

You are a better man than I’ll ever be, Pete. Gloss only if ABSOLUTELY requested ...
Totally worth it when you are finished. Once I’ve figured out the most efficient method that works for me I’ll definitely share

Re: Sneaky's random builds log

That looks nothing short of spectacular Pete. The shine on the ziricote back and sides.....someone pass me the shades  Thanks ... Jens asked me yesterday if I would ever do high gloss again after how much effort has gone into it. I’ve been working on the finish a hour or two a night for two w...
