Re: MotoGP and World Superbikes are losing their appeal for me

I kinda agree, and as a personal thing I don't care for Marquez much. MotoGP hasn't been the same since traction control. I understand it, and I don't blame anyone for doing what they can to avoid a power-on high side, but it has taken a huge element of skill out of the sport now that they can basic...

Re: Show us your gigs.

Here's a short excerpt just from an iPhone in the audience. The camera goes from postage stamp to "proper" full screen at about 1:00 in.

Re: Show us your gigs.

Last weekend we were at the Sydney Blues Challenge. We didn't win but had a pretty good gig. Video to follow when I figure out how to rotate it 90 degrees (sigh) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/it1rS4TdXSJZBJiLuoD9mBR7tKmUn7xHK94Fk9epBWRVIEOPxqJHFzgpQJlI5Oga406JjL_H2p5FflKvYO5_KdXGDfqgy8F7kqdSy9Lj...

Re: Jazzy blues turnarounds

Well "blues" sure covers a ton of ground. For real straight forward sorta "classic" electric blues rock, it's good to listen to Tommy Shannon and see what he does. You can find him on a ton of stuff. For some more jazzy contemporary stuff, you can hear some lovely playing by Travis Carlton here: htt...

Re: Live, without amps

I've played behind a guitarist who didn't use an amp and I *loved* it. When a guitarist is freed of all that "have to drive the amp at it's sweet spot" and "only way to get my sound" stuff, all manner of sensible options are possible. It was quite a while ago and I wish I could remember his gear. Go...

Re: Small lightweight combo recommendations?

I've got a Markbass CMD 121P combo which works pretty well for me. It's a super easy single handed carry and a single trip to/from the car. From what OP is saying it's way over powered. Also they're expensive. Reading that OP already has a K12. I would have called that an easy one-hander, although i...

Re: Heavier Strings for Eb Standard tuning?

Interesting thread. I think the Sadowsky Black Label Nickels work well in Eb. They are higher tension than other strings in the same gauge that I've tried so at Eb they seem to work out about "right" for me.

Re: Blue Bass Owners Show Your Bass(es)!

<SNIP> That Duesenberg suits you much better than the Sadowsky. Looks fantastic on stage  What are they like soundwise, and is it a standard 34" scale? The Sadowsky was a great bass but something about it never really clicked with me. Nothing against them, I still own one. The Duesenberg is a...

Re: Elrick Strings Now In Stock

Mike, I actually have tried the Elrick Nickels on my Roscoe that had D'darrios nickels, anyway the Elricks are similar in tension to the Sadowsky BLUE Nickels not quite as tight as the Sadowsky BLACKS and not as bright, but the Elricks seem warmer and more balanced across the lows-mids-highs. Thank...
