Re: What bass guitar sounds DON'T you like?

The sound that frustrates the schnitzel out of me is that really clacky, sticky sound that always seems to happen on gear review videos. Even with headphones or a good sound system it's like they've removed the bass 50% and boosted the higher freqs. All you hear is a metric-fk-tonne of string buzz ...

Re: Maybe a dumb D.I question

If the gain you are adjusting is before the DI then yes, you are messing with levels. Likely the bass is going though a compressor at the desk though so it will get evened out. You might want to ask the sound guy next time to know for sure?

Re: Record with flats, gig with rounds?

lots of wise advice here. I am really stuck at the moment, totally confused as to which I prefer, flats or rounds. So I guess the answer is that I swing both ways hehe Well it's quite a generalisation but IMO it's a lot easier to eq rounds to sound like flats than the other way around. Fairly dead ...

Re: Custom Neck

Doing that much rework to a neck is not much less work than a build and potentially more if there are surprises, so unless it's cheap probably not worth it. Unless it comes with tuners, and you want the Warwick logo, stuff like that. Removing the board is certainly a task, then relevelling the neck ...

Re: Short scale bass ideas?

The mustang still feels like a P just different scale, very familiar to play. I haven’t tried a 32” and it does take a minute to switch between 30 and 34.

Re: FS P Deluxe USA price drop!

Ah ok, I was talking about the Sandberg Panther I had, which was P and humbucker. Like a smoother less aggressive ‘ray. Yeah sucks to be selling but, great for people buying, swings and roundabouts. I got hammered as I had to sell some stuff off but ah well, got some gear into some appreciating hand...

Anyone interested in a "Timber Addict Anonymous" group in Melbourne? ;)
I feel like it would be more enabling that restraint, take MSGM for example.

Re: FS P Deluxe USA price drop!

I love the humbucker and P combo! I think the Sandberg love is the ability to cop close to a stingray sound, and these deluxe P are harder to come by so people haven’t played them before. Great price and bass just not the right buyer around at the moment.
