I haven’t run into this including a month ago. I have specified a bass guitar and could choose all the different options.

Stick some foam in there. Doesn’t have to be Fender branded foam, lots of different options. As long as it is dense and stiff enough to hold the pickup at the height you adjust it will do the job. Stick some foam in there. Doesn’t have to be Fender branded foam, lots of different options. As long as it is dense and stiff enough to hold the pickup at the height you adjust it will do the job.

I agree, pots are wear and tear parts and you can see them, so change them out. Keep the originals for sure but get it running. Framus offer vintage parts that may suit as well.
