Re: Classic Build #1 The whole bass and nothing but.....

Ha - I'm just doing that because I don't have the patience or skills for inlays. Mind you, it still takes about an hour to do it on the headstock, and longer when I do it on the trussrod cover (my preferred option). Of course it's not restricted to Luminlay, you can use any material ... . It just m...

Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

This of course raises one of my pet peeves, which is that 2 things coming from the same factory aren't automatically equal. You regularly hear people say "It's made in the same factory as x", as if that means they're just as good. It'd be like saying a Ford Focus is as good as a Falcon, because the...

Damn you guys are good. Over on TB, this went on for 9 pages with votes split very evenly. Re: NBD: Yamaha PB400RA - 1985 P-Bass Copy.

I remember looking through the glossy Yamaha catalog in the 80s and seeing these. Really solid basses and MIJ. I bet it plays really nice.

Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

Cort are making some pretty decent basses. I haven't posted this on NBD yet.....but I did purchase a brand new Cort recently (not this model though). It was an absolute bargain IMO and a very unique and versatile bass. Cort have always made decent basses. The best production line ABG you can buy in...

Re: The funny thread

not a joke, but a legendary tale While Boon has always refused to talk about it, several teammates swear he downed 52 beers on the way to the 1989 series, breaking a record of 44 set by Doug Walters and Rod Marsh on earlier tours. While Boon has said that reports of his record were "a Hans Christia...

Welcome to the forum Lyrebird. Great to have you. I've never heard of Durbano or Mr Fabulous, but I'm sure all the PU nerds on here will be interested in your findings.

Last night and this morning I intended to get a bunch more done on the bass. However, I was working in this... https://i.imgur.com/kRrvsHz.jpg I guess it was about 12 months of build up. I'm a "critical mass" kind of cleaner and it had well and truly got beyond a joke. Much of what was taking up the...
