Re: Feedback Solution for Warwick Alien Acoustic Bass

Get hold of a block of memory foam, squash it down and shove it in the hole. It will expand inside the bass and block the hole. Then when you want to remove it, just squash it up and pull it out. It works pretty well, but most of the feedback comes from the strings self exciting, so possibly playing...

Re: You Am I tonight Narrabeen RSL

I only saw them once, that was when they supported the Who at the Ent Cent. They were awful. All tops, couldn't distinguish one song from another, the only thing that stood out was the drums. It seriously sounded like white noise with a drum beat. couldn't hear the vocal either. Bad mix, without a d...

Re: You Am I tonight Narrabeen RSL

Narrabeen RSL is a tiny club. Most people on the Northern Beaches don't know it exists. We played there once, they were paying $1000 a night to be split across 2 bands. The two bands that were booked usually play for drinks. We were filling in for one of the bands. They basically either wanted pub-r...

Re: Defretting

agree with ^. You really have to pay attention to your finger placement on a fretless, or you will be out. It will make you a better player on a fretted bass though. Note that if you become hooked on the fretless, and decide to buy more of them, a defretted bass will have the dots in a different spo...

Go and see Matt at saltmine. He did a fantastic job on my thumb bass after the pre pious owner defretted it badly.

Mike,
I have a 210 traveller and a stand-alone 15 in cab that you'd be welcome to try against your gear

Re: Using Two Combos - Do I Have This Right?

Mike, I used to run a CMD151 markbass combo and bring an extra 15 in the box for the bigger gigs. I have since got rid of the CMD151 and got a separate TSA500 head and 210 traveller box. Since you have the extra head, you might be better getting rid of one of the combos and just boost it with the ex...

At least their 80's bass player (Peter Gifford) has moved up to Byron Bay and is working on real humanitarian pursuits by setting up this company - http://wickedweasel.com/en-au/shop/bikinis/buy
This is a cause I can get behind.

Re: Midnight OIl in the Domain - 11.11.2017

Glad you got to see them, sorry you didn't get to see them in the late 70s. I am lucky enough to have been a regular at the Narrabeen Antler and Saw them many times back in those days. As for all the political rants.. That's why I stopped seeing them. Still like the really early stuff, they are an a...
