Re: FS: Yamaha TRB6P

From memory: (note, we're talking 20 year old memories so check with the seller!!) Mostly the tones given are modern hifi "dark but perfectly clear" tones (e.g. transparent) are really easy to get. Great for big bands and R&B where you need to be heard but also be out of the way of everything else t...

Re: FS: Yamaha TRB6P

The string spacing makes the neck too wide for me; I do have fond memories of borrowing one of these in the mid 90's for a month before I got my Miruzzi made. Loved the range of sounds.

Re: Help needed with the science of heat.

Is the heat damage caused by exhaust gas, or by proximity to the sides of the exhaust pipe? (Getting more air flow between the pipes and the bags might be handy, at least when you're moving).

Re: Informal Sydney Mini-GTG

Both are 50/50 for me depending on time/location and how that week's gigs work. I'm keen in either case. Haven't seen you guys for too long!

You'd probably enjoy another identical 212 and a bit of careful EQ more.

Re: Who's a great slap player willing to do some private lessons with me?

I can definitely help you get your basics back under control and fine tune your speed/accuracy, plus a couple of tricks. I'm located near Windsor. As to whether I'm great ..... that's very subjective ..... but if you want to check my playing out first, I'm doing 80s covers from 9pm at Penrith RSL to...

Re: WTB: High Pass Filter (or maybe a compressor)

Note that compressors can tame that initial spike but sometimes at a cost of still sucking volume away from that next little bit (say a tenth of a second) of the note's attack. So you can actually lose punch - this is why most compressors have an attack knob that lets the first spike through. Which ...

Re: FS SWR Golight 410 *Price dropped*

(I have two of these cabs, 'cause they're no longer in production and, frankly, awesome. I only need one but like having a spare. And on the 2 occasions I've gigged outdoors with both .... yum!).

Re: Maybe a dumb D.I question

Making a drawing of the signal chains might help, or even doing it in your head: You'll soon develop a feel for what knobs will impact what outcomes.

I've never been a "relic" guy so far, but for this bass I'd possibly jump the fence: well done! It looks really cool.

If you request a callback from ebay they're usually really good. And fairly quick. Get onto it!

Re: Live music, Cash On Delivery?

In my present experience, cash is very rare, though some venues still push it to try and get a discount. Some folks take a nicer path and insist we invoice in advance so they can pay us cash on the day (this we like). Most pay a few weeks after they get the invoice. Some take months (this we dislike...

Re: Bill Lawrence P-Bass Information?

There are a few versions of the story floating around the web. Have a read of this one first: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92025 And then see how much of the 'other' side of the story you can swallow: http://billlawrenceusa.com/swampkaster/history.htm It seems like a pickup ge...
