Re: Who uses scrapers?

Thanks gents. I'm only hearing good things about scrapers.
What sharpening tools/stones/grit do you use with the scrapers?

Re: Who uses scrapers?

For neck and body shaping do you suggest a rectangular scraper? Where do you source the tools from?

Who uses scrapers?

I've never used a hand cabinet scraper before and was wondering who uses them?
I notice they come in different shapes and sizes ...
Which scrapers do you use?
Do they eliminate the need for sanding?

As new condition $200 Boss GT-1B Bass Multi-FX Pedal with Loopi Dual Switch pedal and stereo patch cable With the Loopi swith pedal you can program it to operate like individual pedals. You can assign different functions to all 6 pedals. I usually start with a patch with some fixed settings (compres...

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

Like this? Using plastic inlays. Looks like he leaves the masking tape there too?

This also looks like a good idea using a template and dowel. I might give this a go as it seems nice and tidy:

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

Cheers.
I've just realised my fret slots are a little too deep for the fret tangs. Looks to be about.060" instead of .054" for the mando frets. Would this cause any issues other than aesthetically? I could use the jumbo fret wire instead?

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

Do you guys trim the fretboard first and then glue it? Like this?

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

That's what I was thinking. Just making sure. Now on to testing the fret slot depth before gluing on the fretboard. Just gotta make sure it's straight! I remember seeing someone align the board with two pins before gluing.

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

It's been a while. Seems I only get to work on this in school holiday times. The mahogany/swamp ash body went through the thicknesser - down to 40mm. https://imgur.com/a/HFY7N1i Used the fret saw and box to cut fret slots for the 32" bass. Lots of sanding to get the rough patches out of the flame ma...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Thanks for the info. I have two Dragon hand cut rasps from Stewmac which work well with very little chattering. Although I've nothing to compare them with.

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Officially amazing Michael! How much time would you say you use in a week to work on your builds? Do you use a router on your edges or exclusively rasps for the rounding?

Re: Japan Visit

Just got back today. I'm not sure what the store was called. It was in Shinjuku. I saw a big PRS and Korg banner on the outside of the building and crossed the road to check it out. All electric guitars downstairs. I was a bit disappointed. Asked if they had any basses. Yes, Level 4. And wow! I only...
