Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Thanks for the info. I have two Dragon hand cut rasps from Stewmac which work well with very little chattering. Although I've nothing to compare them with.

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Officially amazing Michael! How much time would you say you use in a week to work on your builds? Do you use a router on your edges or exclusively rasps for the rounding?

Re: Japan Visit

Just got back today. I'm not sure what the store was called. It was in Shinjuku. I saw a big PRS and Korg banner on the outside of the building and crossed the road to check it out. All electric guitars downstairs. I was a bit disappointed. Asked if they had any basses. Yes, Level 4. And wow! I only...

Japan Visit

Currently in Japan and came across a music store. Basses on Level 4: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180503/002a18784e345bfbb64c8ecf1e5d4ff2.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180503/d73e933d544c0e349a7ac16f880885f1.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180503/04b7254b14e1161da92f0ded8b31770...

Re: Future Builds - Kinda Not Random

Happy Easter!
The matching headstock is a nice touch.
Is that walnut veneer in the body?

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

Yep. There's some salted maple in that 5 piece laminate neck. I know I've got to take it easy as there are some parts softer than others. I've left 2mm excess to account for the rounding and shaping. Hope that's enough margin. I'm using the MDF as my "full scale plans" along with lots of numbers on ...

Re: Build #3, 4, 5 ...

It's been a long time. Nothing like a four day Easter holiday - I'm very grateful! Not much done in the way of building but a few hours spent today installing the carbon fibre rods into the 5 string neck and shaping/sanding/levelling the sides and headstock of two necks. The spindle sander was fanta...

Re: Post your rigs - PART TWO

I've heard good things about the barefaced One 10 - that they push more air than standard 10” speakers. Never seen one in the flesh though.

Re: Thicknesses?

It looked a real mess before planning it down! Not 100% happy with it yet. It was uneven going into the thicknesser and still a little off and just 2mm left to take off. 5 strips of padauk and 2 strips of maple here. I've noticed this padauk is more prone to splinters and spilts than my last piece. ...

Now that is possibly the coolest bass I've ever seen! You've smashed it out of the park with that colour combination.

BTW Is there a story behind the Polaris name?
