Re: Mid-price 5 string P/PJ options

Looks like I've got my path... I won a cheap MIM 5 string jazz on ebay last night. I'll be heading to Melbourne early March and planning to stop in at MSGM for a few hours, so I'll discuss/do routing under the pick guard and cutting a new guard with a reverse p mount. All (cosmetically) reversible i...

Re: New Rig Day: GK and Phil Jones Rig!

The tiny bit of exposure I've had to Phil Jones stuff is big claims backed by results. I love the idea of this rig, and am very keen to hear it in action.
Where did you buy it from if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Joy is....

For me it was surviving a late call up to fill in for a 4 hour gig. Among a host of other time related sinks working against me, I haven't played 4 sets in about 2 or 3 years, I forgot how much stamina/fitness is required! I got there though, the rest of the band was happy, had a great audience - joy.

So Rai Thistlethwaite keeps surprising me with the projects he works on outside of Thirsty Merc, and now this guy. I feel like I need to go back and re-listen to their back catalogue with a bit more intensity...

Agh cleary you beat me to it!! It's the quick and the dead round here - if you want to go off and interview famous people instead of staring at the classifieds section for hours on end, well, I guess it's your loss. :D j/k of course - The bass centre have cheapish kits if you need something quickly?

Re: slashin_velvet's 1st full build

Fwiw I'm really enjoying this too - particularly the hand-carved part. The MSGM builds are great too, but there's parts of the process where a machine gets involved and (black box machine process) tada! Seeing (and reading about) the manual processes is exposing the machine functions for me - so tha...

It must be a magic tone mojo that only comes good for true believers :p
Dunno, I didn't know anything about them before I tried it. I was looking for a 5 string that day, didn't find one that I liked and was almost out the door when I noticed the jb4 in the window and gave it a "quick" try

When I owned one, long ago, it sang. It "just worked". Playing it felt like coming home.

Funny, that's exactly how I described the feeling the first time I played one.

In the shop.

Then bought it even though it didn't meet any of the criteria I thought I was looking for 😶

Re: Mid-price 5 string P/PJ options

Did anyone bid on the bb1025x? I was gonna have a go but fell asleep lol I'm still not sure which one was being referred to? There was one on ebay that was $1K but would've got to $900 with the ebay boxing day code. At the moment I'm seriously considering dual neck (fretted/fretless) options at thi...

Here's what I'm chasing (mentioned in my PJ thread, but another example): That was you! I knew I read it somewhere but forgot ask what song it was because I was attacking in Clash of Clans  and lost where it is, was that the thread with the Skull knobs? No skull knobs for me I'm afraid - http:...
