Re: MUSICMAN Sabre reissue - $1350

How heavy is this one? They're generally around 4.6kg. I know someone looking for a lighter one.

Quick update on progress in the Kermit family. Coffee table much? Well, this little baby looks rather sophisticated and benign but once pickup and electronics (SD Musicman replacement kit) are in this will be a rock and funk monster! Re: Ebay thread PART TWO - the good, bad, and ridiculous...

I was glad to see you posted that Russell. The guy originally advertised it as a MusicMan Bongo. It was only after people called it out as a fake, that he added the word copy at the end. I just had a look at his profile and he's a younger guy, turns 20 in 12 days. He probably had no idea about the ...

Re: Clean an old electric piano

I'd start with a vacuum cleaner, with brush attachment, along with a damp cloth and see how that goes? I've seen a tech use a paint brush to dislodge dust, next to a vacuum nozzle, so it goes right into the cleaner as it's moved.

Re: Mini Ampegs

I've wondered about these too. Tony Levin was using one (not sure which model) a while back with King Crimson. He said he used one when he had to cart it himself and for bigger tours, like Peter Gabriel, where they had full crew, he used an SVT + 8x10.

Re: Ebay thread PART TWO - the good, bad, and ridiculous...

It is also impressive that ebay didn't remove the listing. I reported as a counterfeit and I am sure at least 5 others reported. Ebay is hopeless. There is no excuse for this type of business practice. I just clicked on the listing, thinking I should keep an eye on his feedback score and noticed th...

Re: Ebay thread PART TWO - the good, bad, and ridiculous...

I've heard back from Heath Blows at Fender Australia, who has referred it to their legal department. Didn't seem to make any difference last time, but let's see what happens after he's already been warned! The guy closed the auction just after I contacted Fender last time, so there probably wasn't ...

Re: NBD Ibanez 1977

The Silver Series are known for being good. Pretty sure Graham Maby used a Silver Series Jazz with tapewound strings, into a Fender Bassman on the first Joe Jackson album and said he always regretted selling it.

Re: NBD Stingray adventures

Just installed the parallel/single/series coil switch. Made a quick comparison clip. The open string at the start gives an idea of the level difference. After that I attempted to match the average level, so I was comparing tone.

Re: Ebay thread PART TWO - the good, bad, and ridiculous...

I ended up reporting the “jazz” and the “bongo”. Having said that perhaps the sellers themselves bought them under the misconception that they were real. Monkey see and all that I have wondered that too. I certainly don't think either of them thought they still had the real thing when they advertis...
