Musicman??? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hillcrest/guitars-amps/american-bass-guitar-/1166073584 Hasn't got a compensated nut, and the face of the headstock has been sanded back, the strap pin is not a MusicMan either it's a regular one, my guess is a Ray34 or OLP or similar budget model. 2 band...

Re: RIP Malcolm Young 64

I was wondering how long he'd survive. Dementia sufferers never seem to last more than a few years.

He was in the same facility as my Great Uncle's next door neigbour and close friend, Gough Whitlam. I always thought that would be an interesting combination of guys to see hanging out together.

Re: Countdown

Do we have anybody on Oz Bass, who appeared on Countdown? I'd love to hear some stories. My guitar teacher was on, around '79, in a band called Fandango. He didn't enjoy the experience much. Said the producers treated them like they were pretty stupid and would only talk to them through the band man...

Here's the Fretless track I mentioned earlier.

That's Juan Lauda's (Tim) old band, before he joined them.

Re: NBD........well...soon

Wow... that's not lived an easy life has it. 8/ Still, you could chamber all the weight out of that and never feel bad about it. I reckon I know a guy who could help you out with that... and a PU to replace that EMG. :D Heath and his daughter just dropped in on their way to the Gosford Classic Car ...

Re: Using Two Combos - Do I Have This Right?

markbass have a pre-post EQ button that apparently works on the loop and the DI I was just looking at the block diagram for my Mark Bass SR450 and the eq is after the tone shaping and eq controls. Only the line out has the option of pre/post eq. Assuming that's the same for all MB amps, but of cour...

Re: Using Two Combos - Do I Have This Right?

So, if I've understood correctly, you'd ideally like to control the whole system from the one set of controls? This means the tuner out option isn't what you want, as it will be before the eq. As said above, the only question is, if the eq is before or after the send? If the first send is after the ...

'62 jazz - stacked controls
RW - rosewood board
VWT - vintage while
W/C - assuming with case
That sounds right, except I thought they'd changed to VVT from the stacked controls by then?

Re: Countdown

Noticed our own Juan Lauda's band The Expression (before he was in it) made the cut too. Thanks for the heads up, Greg! I'll have to catch up on it. I also had a fretless Musician in those days. Still have the classic TC Electronics Chorus/Flanger pedal I used with it for a bunch of The Expression'...

Re: Countdown

Watched the '83 episode today. I noticed I was hearing quite a bit of fretless, with the guys 'playing' fretted basses on the show. Didn't notice any real pattern to what was popular that year. A couple of Ibanez Musicians, a few Stingrays and Jazz Basses, an aluminium necked Kramer and I forget wha...

Re: Midnight OIl in the Domain - 11.11.2017

Who listens to the singer anyway ? They are just there to support the bassplayer IMO. Midnight Oil have a singer now? I was never much of a fan, but went with some mates to see them at the Sydney Entertainment Centre around '92. They were absolutely superb. One of the best bands I've ever seen. I'v...
