Re: New studio build

What is your flooring Pete ? Some newer places have the waffle pod slabs. They look like they would work well for sound isolation.

How is this GST for overseas items under 1k going to work ?

Who understands what is being imposed in 1 months time and can explain it to the rest of us ? I figure big players like Ebay will charge us and extra 10% at checkout but what happens if you buy some pickups at Bestbassgear ? Ie a small player that isn't registered for GST ? Will Auspost hold it back...

The photo works for me Eden and the crooked lettering looks cool to me. Are you going to do one of your cool Youtube vids for this ?

Re: Compulsive timber acquisition syndrome

You Melbournites are so lucky having David Searle to help you turn beautiful pieces of timber like this into working instruments. I see no need for a psychologist Ivan. You are asking in the wrong place for that.

Re: What bass guitar sounds DON'T you like?

I love Pino as a player but I don't dig his P bass with TI flats tone. Listening to John Mayer's Continuum right now and it seems so muddy and indistinct. IMO his sound is too clean to have no highs in his sound. A tube amp adding some harmonic richness and then maybe it would work.

I had an '87 just like this.. It was the heaviest bass I have ever owned. I loved slapping on it. Like this one it had a beautiful birdseye neck.

Re: Short scale bass ideas?

I must admit that the 32" scale bass that I loved was an Alembic Series 1. I have no idea what is out there in this scale in the more reasonable price ranges. It was my only bass for 13 years. I would go into a bass shop and play a 34" and go meh for years. Now all I have is 34's. I owned Owen's fre...

Re: Short scale bass ideas?

Have you considered a medium scale ? I find 30" just too small. 32" is really comfortable and not as hard to go back and forth on long scale basses.
