Re: Joy is....

Had the most wonderful day, played the best for ages, sat down ,played my 64j and drank Irish stout(probably best I was sitting down towards the end :) )I am 69 and 3 gigs thi...

Re: FT Stingray 4H White

Agree with Mark.
I have found different basses like different strings and it’s worth experimenting if you like everything else about it,strings make an enormous difference in the sound

Re: FENDER PRECISION 1962

The one on the left is my early 64 j,a 62 and early 64 burst should be the same ,as Russell said it’s just to show a comparison.Sorry if it caused confusion.Btw there is an old case .

Fender Precision 1962,has 1965 neck.My understanding is the neck was replaced by Fender, seems to be correct as the machine heads are 62. The orig pups, which are open circuit, pots ,cap and wiring are all supplied with the bass in a separate bag. I used it Aust day for 4 hours,it really was nice, the n...

Re: purchased trace 4x12 and mystery amp

Sounds like someone has been inside messing,Paul’s work is second to none.He is also the Fender fixit tech on the GC.I was actually going to purchase it when it was on Gumtree for my son in laws music room but I was too lazy to make the drive into Brissy

Re: Pitch shifters... Recommendations???

I have the drop, comes in handy especially for girl singers who change the key about as often as we change our shirts.
Notice it changes the tone a little so would use it very sparingly.

Re: Rant Thread !

To adjust the pressure they decided to hide it so us mortals can’t do it,but us bass players are not normal,it’s just a matter of pushing a couple of buttons in sequence ,well it was on my Resmed.

Re: Rant Thread !

My understanding is Resmed is a pretty standard model,I personally like the mask that only covers the nose, very small,no harder to set up than a programmable digital effects :banghead: a few of the settings are hidden but YouTube sorts that out quickly enough, you could be up and running by evening

Re: Rant Thread !

I am nothing like you, in fact they said I did not need one if I slept on my side,my missus would not agree :) but I just bought a Resmed set it up myself and it’s been fine. You can buy one now at the best price, when they get their shite together ask them what pressure they would have initially se...

Re: Live music and music shops in Hobart?

In the future it looks like I may go down for a few months at a time,if and when that happens I will buy a nice jazz bass to leave down there, when I am not there I have no problem someone using it.

Re: Live music and music shops in Hobart?

Always check out Soldas in the city when I am down there, which is as often as I can, saw a bass ,asked the price, they did not know. :banghead: Couple of others over the road. Salamanca on Friday at 5.30 ,down an alley and outside has an amazing thing going for a couple of hours,Best vibe I have come...

Re: [FS/FT] 1966 Fender Jazz Bass (Vintage)

Not so sure I would describe it as darker and quieter ,actually hard to put your finger on,you just know it’s not quite doing what you want.Probably thinner sounding comes close. My mate owned a studio and had a 62 ri stacker and said to me it was not right and stopped using it,he bought a standard ...

Re: [FS/FT] 1966 Fender Jazz Bass (Vintage)

Yep,pre 65 j basses are hard to come by. The case looks to me to be about right imho.Vinyl binding like a Stanford 64 case.Re stackers. If you do some research and dig little deeper with people that have both you will find a slab vvt will sound nicer than a stacker, harder to find as well. The guy fro...
