Re: Build #12 - 6 string fretless (warning; crazy content)
If the body is at least 20mm thick I'm fairly certain cutting a 5mm recess rout for the pickups wouldn't do anything and you would get the added bonus of actually being able to tweak your pickup heights properly instead of being stuck having to shim them

Re: Tom's Headless 5 String Bass - #033
I'm not too sure, I'm not at home to weight it. It's not that light but not as heavy as I thought it would be when I pulled that Bubinga blank out of the shipping box, that blank was like a boat anchor.

Re: Thicknesses?

Behaviour on this forum.
Some of you may have seen the comments on a particular sales thread yesterday. I had to warn a user about the forum rules as he was breaching them, this user decided to keep piling it on and after some thread cleaning from me, decided to start a thread about how the mod team "badly mistreated him". ...

Re: slashin_velvet's 1st full build
Its definitely easier to cut the laminates *close* to size with a template before gluing them together. Bear in mind that the wood will move during the clamping process so you have to make it slightly bigger than the final size. you might also have to joint the fretboard face again after gluing if t...

Definitely a major pain in the ass. I'll eventually move the photos to a different server and update all my build threads but don't hold your breath, its probably going to take a while

Re: Is this repairable?
Thanks for your reply's guys I sent Mike @ MTD an email and they replied super quick. They charge $500USD for refinish. I'll probably return it to seller. Got your email, I don't personally do refinishes but some of the local guys that do it typically charge around $600 so its definitely a big expe...

Re: Classic Build #1 The whole bass and nothing but.....
There's a saying that goes......Imitate then innovate. I'm only at the first stage of that right now.....just a beginner, learning the basics and enjoying the journey. Fair enough, I started the same way my first build was a copy of a Warrior bass. The work looks really nice so far Ivan, you're doi...
