Re: Future Builds - Maybe Random

No probs....thanks for sharing that. I did see that Ryobi Trimmer when I was at Bunnings on the weekend. Their products are really well priced and definitely good enough for my needs. I just purchased some books for my daughters tafe course today and just one book cost more than this trimmer :rollno...

Re: Blind test: MusicMan StingRay 2004 vs Cort GB75JH

Cort are making some pretty decent basses. I haven't posted this on NBD yet.....but I did purchase a brand new Cort recently (not this model though). It was an absolute bargain IMO and a very unique and versatile bass.

Thanks guys. And Michael......I'm liking the idea of your luminlay dot formation in place of a traditional headstock inlay more and more :yep

Re: Classic Build #1 The whole bass and nothing but.....

First go at the inlay ended up a bit messy, so off to the workshop yesterday for a rescue attempt. Did some more drilling around the letters after David cut around the outline with a craft knife. Here's some drilling in action with background music provided courtesy of David testing some pickups: ht...

Re: Cornell Williams - Jon Cleary Bassist

Great interview Craig, with a great player who always "plays for the song".

Love that Modulus bass. Interesting that he swapped out the pickups and pre to an Aguilar set. How does it compare soundwise to your F bass?

Re: cool finishing technique

The good folk at MSGM do indeed know about this technique. I kinda think David was hoping no one would want to go down this path :rollno:

Doesn't look too eco friendly either. But I've got to admit that it does look good.

ok so the inlay is somewhere in that blob?
That's right. The blob has now been sanded back, but it's not the result I was after which is something like the example below. So some recovery work is needed....but should be ok I hope.
