Re: Introduce Yourself

Great to have you back Giff. Love the new photos!! PS. I'm reposting your original post for clarity. Hi Bass Players. Now that i'm 65 I thought it was high time I joined a few bass forums and Ozbass was top of my list. Better late than never? I have been giggling in bands since I was 16 (so that's 5...

Re: NBD - Birth Year P With Tort Guard

controls: series/parallel switch for each pickup; three way pickup selector (neck/series/bridge) vol (active/passive), bass, mid, treble. Is the volume knob push-pull for passive-active? Any blend control? is that even needed in series? Do two PU's close together act like a MM pickup? Is there any ...

Re: NBD - Birth Year P With Tort Guard

Very fancy!! It's more Oscar than Kermit IMO.

PS. Title didn't trick me.... you'd be the last person to wax lyrical about a birth year bass, esp P w/ Tort.

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

A backing track had been set to Eb by mistake (instead of E). Band started in E, but found the error half way thru when the horns backing track came in. Severe OUCH to the ears!!

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

A female jazz singer wanted to sing It Had To Be You in C major. The Harry Connick Jnr version is in Gmaj. Now THAT sounded woeful, way too chipmunk for the blues.

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

Am or key of C,that should liven things up :peep: There's one in every crowd.... every crowd that you are in. :poke: BTW, I love that we got 3 pages into the thread and no one has nit-picked the keys of A to Am or G to Gm. Oops I just did it :) It would have been the first reply on TB! Make that tw...

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

me and my drummer (we formed the band together) agreed that if any song is not to be sang in original key then we don't sing it at all! Some songs sound real bad, others are fine, some sound better. It all depends on the song and the ability of the musos to make it work. Had a singer/guitarist pick...

Re: POLL Sydney GTG 2017: 28th Oct or 4th Nov?

My vote - both dates suit me.

(Actually I might have accidentally voted twice while test-driving it). Fixed the Poll but can't withdraw the second vote.

POLL Sydney GTG 2017: 28th Oct or 4th Nov?

We're bouncing around a few options for dates for a Sydney GTG 2017. You can change your vote later if circumstances change. Poll runs for 2 weeks only.

Feel free to post comments, details, etc. It helps us to better organise the event, & allow the greatest number of people to attend.

Re: Sydney GTG this year?

Here's the Poll. Please vote if you're interested in coming.

If you CAN'T make those dates, let us know what dates you CAN attend by posting a comment in that thread - it will help if we need to change anything later.

Re: Sydney GTG this year?

So when is best for people? Do we do it after Oct 28, which means November (as I assume most people get busy in December) or wait until early next year? I CAN do the Sat 28th Oct. Any major events on Sat Nov 4th? eg. grand finals, etc. Maybe a Poll with 5 options... - Oct 28th only - Nov 4th only -...

Re: I Will Survive in G? I said No.

Detune the E string to D for that one song.

.....or put a capo on the singer's throat.

Why not ask this question on TalkBass for people's responses.
