Re: Is this repairable?

There's a couple of blokes in Cairns who could do a refin for you (or at least give you a quote). Let me know if you want me to pass on their contact details

Re: Android software for sheet music, lyrics, etc.

I've been using Setlist Helper ... it's free, and bluetooth compatible. Pretty sure it can do all the stuff you listed ... Worth checking out anyway.

Re: Decent gig bags?

Slight tangent here, but has anyone seen one of the new Ibanez double bags in person yet? (Ibanez IBB2621 PowerPad) They look pretty decent - seems to be two separate gig bags that zip together to form a double bag ... Pretty reasonable pricing too (US$99 on Amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Ibanez-IBB...

Re: Decent gig bags?

I've been very, very happy with my protec contego - lots of storage space, a good amount of padding all around, good straps, solid zips, etc. etc.

They seem pretty hard to find in Aus, but they're on Amazon for around $120 (may need to ship through shipito or something tho, depending on seller)

Re: Best Acoustic Bass Guitar Among These

I have an Ibanez AEB5, and it's fun for practising and messing about by myself - like others have said, acoustic basses don't have a lot of volume without an amp and will struggle to be heard when playing with others. The Ibby's playability is pretty good (although the action's quite high and the ne...

Re: NEW AMP TIME! Opinions wanted

Someone (not me) is selling an Orange OB1-500 in the classifieds ... Might be worth a look if you want something lighter and cheaper than a big-ass valve amp. He's got an AD200 and some orange speaker cabs for sale too ...

Re: Sansamp Fly Rig

Which of the Sansamp Character series is the Sansamp section based on? This is from the Tech21 rep on a talkbass thread: The SansAmp section of the Bass Fly Rig is the VT Bass circuit. The only difference is that the overall preamp gain is dialed back slightly. If you need more gain you use the Boo...

Re: Sansamp Fly Rig

I'm digging mine - using it mainly at practices and when we have a provided backline, but I carry it along as a back-up in case shit hits fan with main rig. Still using the main board at most gigs, just cos it's already all hooked up and things are a bit more tweakable than on the BFR. As said above...

Re: What's your main GIGGING gear?

Yup, I love the way Maurizio does things - no compromises whatsoever on either form or function. Very easy to work with on the build as well.
And the Starcaster is a blast. Very happy I picked that one up.

Re: What's your main GIGGING gear?

These days, the bass is a toss-up between the Fender Starcaster and the Maurizio Uber-J - both are great to play and cover a good range of tones Main rig for band gigs is Radial Tonebone DI with Mooer octave & dirt, Boss chorus and Digitech synth in the loop into EA Micro into EA Wizzy 112 with one ...

Re: Rock/musician biographies you liked.

Tom Waits' Innocent When You Dream is highly entertaining - a collection of interviews rather than a true biography, but

The Real Frank Zappa Book is worth a go too.

Re: Need to hire gear when on the road, or rent out your own gear?

I used this site this past weekend - was down in Melbs doing a gig and needed a bass amp (had one lined up to borrow but it fell through). Got hold of an ampeg combo for the night, reasonable rental, great nick, no hassles, no dramas. I was very happy. Hopefully other people will have similar good e...
